Two men were arrested Thursday morning after a commuter was attacked on his way to the Metrolink in Canyon Country, a local sheriff’s sergeant said.

About 10:45 a.m., deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to 911 reports of a man assaulted with a bat near Via Princessa, Sgt. Brian Allen confirmed.

Deputies responding to Via Princessa learned of three attackers but found no evidence a bat had been used, said Allen.

“Initially, there was a report of a bat involved but it turns out it was hands, feet and fists,” he said, referring to how the victim was assaulted.

The man was walking to the Metrolink station when he was approached by men described as “gang types,” Allen said.

“They demanded he hand over what he had. The man said ‘no’ and the three attacked him,” Allen said.

“He curled up in a foetal position.”

The man, described only as a wearing glasses, a black shirt and khaki pants, suffered a minor head injury, he said.

Deputies scoured an area near Jakes Way looking for two suspects, one of them shirtless wearing purple shorts who had a facial tattoo. The other was described as wearing a white T-shirt and blue pajama pants.

Deputies arrested two men and took them to the sheriff’s station before noon.

A third suspect was believed to be at large.
