Gold’s Gym opened its new 35,000 square-foot fitness center in Valencia on Town Center Drive on Wednesday.

Owners Angel and William Banos were on hand during the day to host the opening. An official grand opening party is set for Sept. 29.

The Santa Clarita location is the ninth Gold’s Gym location owned and operated by the Banos brothers, who opened their first gym in North Hollywood in 1988. Today they own gyms in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties.

“The new gym is a gathering place for local residents to share in their common goal of staying or getting fit,” said Angel Banos, CEO of the Gold’s Gym Los Angeles franchise area.

The new gym is located in the space formerly occupied by Borders bookstore and a family arcade center, next to the Edwards Theater. It has cardio machines outfitted with LCD television screens and iPod docking stations, and includes a “cardio cinema” where members can watch movies while working out.

Members can also take advantage of a new 25-meter outdoor pool, 65 group exercise classes per week, men and women’s eucalyptus steam rooms, a spinning room for cycling programming, jacuzzi/whirlpool, tanning center, supplement store and more.

“Gold’s Gym is proud to be a part of the Valencia community,” said William Banos, vice president.
