Lil Lepore and Shari Frazier, natives of New York, found their way to the Santa Clarita Valley in September 2006 to sell wine. The duo opened Vino 100 in the Highridge shopping center at Newhall Ranch Road and Copper Hill in Valencia.
"We met in California and we both were invovled in busiensses unrelated to wine," Lepore said. However, Lepore said wine is her passion.
"I enjoy sharing my passion for wine with others," she said. "The people are the best part of this business. Customers make our business and they are important to us. We want to make sure everyone who leaves here is satisfied and comfortable with their purchase."
The duo have turned Vino 100 into a cozy and comfortable neighborhood wine store where they offer many monthly events.
With the holidays upon us the co-owners of Vino 100 have several last minute gift ideas.
Among the cutest gifts are the Lolita glasses - fun decorative stemware that runs $23.50 to $25 and includes wine glasses and martini glasses.
Grab-and-go bottles of wine, none over $25, are "pre-beautified" and include Christmas and Hanukkah gift wrapping.
Shoppers can drop by the store and pick up a gift that is immediately available to present as a gift. Lepore said wine is an attractive present because it is a gift of goodwill.
"Wine brings cheer and joy to a lot of people, especially to those who love wine," she said.
Vino 100 offers complimentary gift wrapping and will put together any type of gift basket for customers. "There's still time to ship gifts, too," she said.
Customers can also enjoy the Vino 100 wine bar which now offers small plate appetizers to be enjoyed with either a glass, flight or bottle of wine.
"We don't charge a corkage fee for any bottle of Vino 100 wines opened here in the store," Lepore said. "We have also expanded our selection of wine to include fine premium wines, ports and sparkling wines," said Frazier.
The Vino 100 Wine Club is also an easy to purchase and thoughtful gift, said Lepore. The $40-a-month fee includes two bottles of wine, which customers choose, a variety of discounts including 50 percent off wine tastings.
Vino 100, Highridge Crossing Center, 28112 Newhall Ranch Road, Valencia is open noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays in December, Monday-Tuesday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (661) 294-6886.
