A man who was rushed to the hospital Monday after jumping in front of a car in an apparent bid to end his life remained in critical condition Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A man and a woman in Canyon Country had an argument that ended with the man threatening to kill himself Monday afternoon, Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said at the time.

Deputies were dispatched to the report of a man struck by a car on Soledad Canyon Road near Canyon Country Park, he said.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department took the man, suffering serious head injuries, to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
