Small quake rumbles the SCV

A 3.0-magnitude earthquake hit areas surrounding Santa Clarita at 9:17 a.m. Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's Web site.

The quake occurred three miles east of Piru, 10 miles west of Valencia and 8.2 miles beneath the earth's surface, according to the site.
