"The community meeting is an op-portunity for business owners, property owners and residents of Old Town Newhall to get in-volved and have an input on the look and feel of Main Street," Mayor Bob Kellar said.
The meeting will include a presentation on the latest concepts for Main Street, including landscaping, new seating areas, a storm drain, more street crossings and antique street lights.
As the city has developed its plans for revitalizing Newhall over the last several years, a major aspect of those plans has been streetscaping. The first step was installing stop signs at intersections on Main Street in the downtown area, intended as a traffic-calming measure.
The goal of the Newhall Specific Plan is to, over roughly 20 years, transform the valley's tired bedrock community into a mixed-use, pedestrian oriented, arts-friendly neighborhood.
Moule and Polyzoides, the design firm that drafted the specific plan, has also worked on redevelopment projects in Pasadena and Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade.
