Friends and family gather to remember Rosemary Flynn at a candle light vigil held at Canyon Country Park in Canyon Country on Tuesday.

The vigil held in Rosemary Flynn’s honor Tuesday night at Canyon Country Park was a celebration of her life, an organizer said, although it was held on the second anniversary of her death.

“This vigil is to celebrate her life, not her death,” said longtime friend Bailin Hummitsch. “I knew her since I was 14, when she took me under her wing.”

Flynn, 21, died of a fractured skull on July 31, 2010, following an argument she reportedly had with her boyfriend outside their Canyon Country apartment.

She hit her head on the asphalt after allegedly grabbing the door of a truck as her boyfriend drove it away from their Jakes Way apartment.

Bryon Jeffrey Murray, 29, of Canyon Country, was ordered to stand trial on charges of vehicular manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter in her death.

He is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court next month on those charges.

The anniversary of Flynn’s death is particularly hard on her parents.

“My wife, Lucia, and I are frustrated that the pre-trial is taking so long — and that the trial is now scheduled for mid-August,” said Flynn’s father, Matt.

“We miss Rose very much,” he said.
