A 29-year-old man was rushed to hospital Monday afternoon after jumping in front of a car in an apparent bid to end his life, a local sheriff’s spokesman said.

Shortly before 5 p.m., a man and a woman in Canyon Country had an argument that ended with the man threatening to kill himself, said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“They get into an argument and then the guy says he’s now going to jump in front of a car,” Bryski said.
“And then he did.”

Deputies were dispatched to a man struck by a car on Soledad Canyon Road at Deep Creek Drive.

The victim was rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in critical condition with critical head injuries believed to be life-threatening, Bryski said.
