Selena Wilkomm, of Santa Clarita, earned a Bachelor of Arts, Sociology, degree from Doane College in Nebraska.

Wilkomm earned one of the 600 undergraduate and graduate degrees awarded during the 135th annual commencement celebration held Sunday, May 20; the first to be held in newly renovated Cassel Open Air Theatre.   

Ken Krings, a 1985 graduate of the Lincoln campus, was the keynote speaker for Lincoln and Grand Island campus undergraduate students and the college’s graduate programs.

Krings serves as director of global talent acquisition at Synaptics, a California-based company that is a leading developer of human interface solutions for mobile computing, communications, and entertainment devices.

His career also includes years as director of talent acquisition for Yahoo!.  

Commencement for Crete campus students followed in the afternoon. Bryan Alexander, a senior fellow at the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education, gave the keynote address.   

The program includes specialized interdisciplinary, one-credit honors seminars taken each semester, a study abroad experience in the junior or senior year, and a collaborative research project. Honors students must maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average.  

Doane College is the first private liberal arts and sciences college in Nebraska. Doane has campuses in Crete, Lincoln and Grand Island. Forbes.com ranked Doane among the top two colleges in Nebraska and 66th among 600 undergraduate institutions nationwide. Doane also is ranked among the top colleges and universities in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review.
