SCV Corvette Club rallies in Malibu

20 SCV Corvette cars take to canyon roads and head to the beach

Members of the Santa Clarita Valley Corvette Club recently took a Saturday day-trip to the beach in Malibu where they enjoyed lunch at Duke's restaurant.

Members and guests of the Santa Clarita Valley Corvette Club enjoyed a relaxing caravan event during a recent weekend drive to Duke’s-Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway.

The event offered an opportunity for SCV Corvette enthusiasts to enjoy camaraderie as well as a test of their driving skills in the canyon roads en route to the beach.

Early on that Saturday, 20 cars started the run that began in the SCV, then across the Santa Monica Mountains to the coast.

Prior to lunch, the “Vettes” were assembled in a “Corvette Corral” and the obligatory group photo was taken in front of Duke’s.

The beach air coupled with the crashing waves and excellent lunch all worked together to make this an excellent outing, said members of the club.

The weekend run is typical of the functions the SCV Corvette Club participates in throughout the year.

In addition to road trips, the club participates in the annual Fourth of July Parade in Santa Clarita and contributes to charitable causes.

On Oct. 6 the SCV Corvette Club will sponsor an “All Corvette Charity Car Show” at the Route 66 Classic Grill, 18730 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country.

All proceeds from the show will go to the Painted Turtle Camp in Lake Elizabeth. The camp is for children who are faced with life threatening and chronic illnesses.

Last year, the SCV Corvette Club celebrated its 30th anniversary.

The club is a non-profit organization and is the SCV focal point for all things Corvette.

Corvette enthusiasts are invited to join the club, which holds monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. (social hour at 6 p.m.).

Monthly meetings are held at Marie Callender’s, 27630 The Old Road, Valencia.

Social meetings are held on the third Thursday of month 6 p.m. at Route 66 Classic Grill, 18730 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country.
