Investigators looking into the “suspicious death” of a man found in the backyard of a Valencia home Monday are now treating his death as accidental, a sheriff’s spokesman said Thursday.
The body of 55-year-old Douglas Bert Vlaming was found by family members early Monday in the backyard of his home on Frisca Drive.
Although detectives with the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have not concluded how Vlaming died, they are “leaning” toward an accidental death, said homicide Lt. Mike Rosson.
“It appears it’s accidental,” Rosson said of the death. “But we’re still waiting for all the information to come in.”
Detectives are waiting for the results of a post-mortem examination which is scheduled to take place Friday, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department said Thursday.
Vlaming’s body was found in the backyard pool, leading detectives to suspect accidental drowning, Rosson said.
