Santa Clarita Valley residents driving in the North Valencia area near Newhall Ranch Road and Hillsborough Parkway should expect delays Thursday as crews shut down traffic signals in the area for Southern California Edison work.

Several traffic signals in the area will be shut down from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a release from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The city of Santa Clarita, along with deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, are anticipating traffic delays in the area,” sheriff’s officials said in a news release. “Deputies will be on scene to assist in directing traffic.”

Motorists are asked to slow down and remain alert in the area Thursday while the work is being completed.

A spokeswoman from Southern California Edison said the company was planning to replace equipment that was either failing or on the verge of having problems. The outage is not expected to affect residential customers.

“We’re going to be replacing some transformers that will be affecting the signals,” spokeswoman Anna Frutos-Sanchez said.
