The end of summer is in sight. Not the end of the heat, which in the SCV usually lasts through October, but summer vacation ends when school begins in mid-August.

Celebrate the last days of summer with a family-friendly pool party hosted by Single Mothers Outreach.

The second annual SCV Pool Party will be held Aug. 4 from 3-8 p.m., at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center, 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita.

Tickets are $10 per person, (age 3 and under free). Among the activities will be a synchronized swimming show, BBQ, music, games and raffles.

Single Mothers Outreach is a grassroots organization that assists families facing sudden housing instability, income loss, emotional trauma and economic and social discrimination.

Since 1995, the nonprofit has helped more than 2,200 single parent households, said DaAnne Smith, executive director of Single Mothers Outreach.

The support group serves single parents living in the SCV including Acton, Agua Dulce, Canyon Country, Castaic, Newhall, Saugust, Stevenson Ranch, Valencia and Val Verde.

“This should be a great way to end the summer,” said Martin Rodriguez, Single Mothers Outreach board member.
