Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich will honor The Gentle Barn on Tuesday during the county’s weekly Board of Supervisors’ meeting in Los Angeles, according to a county news release.

The animal rescue organization located in Agua Dulce and Canyon Country is being recognized for its assistance in caring for animals following the case of the “Backyard Butcher,” a Canyon Country man who was sentenced in May to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to animal cruelty charges in connection with an unlicensed butchering operation at his home.

The nonprofit Gentle Barn Foundation was founded in 1999 as a safe haven and place of recovery for abused farm animals, according to the news release.
