The body of a Valencia man was found in his yard early Monday, and investigators have labeled the death “suspicious.”
It’s possible the man is a victim of a drowning, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Arriaga, but the cause of death remained unconfirmed Monday afternoon, he said.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators spent much of the day at the home in the 22900 block of Frisca Drive, where family members discovered the body about 5:30 a.m.
“It’s just a suspicious circumstances (death) at this point,” homicide Detective Karen Shonka said.
Investigators spent hours at the home before a coroner’s van was summoned. The body wasn’t loaded into the van until about 5:45 p.m.
Neighbors, reporters and some family members were kept out of the home and behind yellow police line tape.
Investigators said the body was found in the side or backyard, but those areas were not visible from the street and it could not be determined whether the backyard had a swimming pool, hot tub or Jacuzzi.
Some residents in the neighborhood of well-maintained, two-story homes who were willing to talk to the media said they didn’t know the family well.
“They’re very quiet,” neighbor Gerald Taylor said of the residents of the home where the man was found dead. “They kind of keep to themselves.”
Some residents said they didn’t know how many people lived at the brown home with brick trim.
Family members stood together in a huddle and declined to comment.
