As the newest member of the team here at The Signal, I thought I would introduce myself.

I have been working in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1998 in marketing and Web design. While working in the marketing field, I often wondered which local websites received the most traffic and who I should use in my marketing efforts.  I was always confused between the number of overall site visits and unique visitors, as most everyone claims to “have the most traffic.” I did some comparative research and found that www.the-signal.com had right at 1 million page views, with more than 140,000 unique visitors per month, exceeding the numbers of other local media websites by a wide margin.

For me, opportunity presented itself in the form of an unexpected job loss. So, the first place I looked for a job was The Signal. I wanted to work for a company with new and innovative multimedia campaigns that I could use to help local businesses be more successful.  I’m pleased to be part of such a dynamic team of people, and I am looking forward to finding new ways to represent you and bring revenue to your business.  I also hope to give you some great tips along the way. Something I have learned, and Norman Vincent Peale said eloquently, is: “In every difficult situation is potential value. Believe this, then begin looking for it.”

Well, summer is officially here and that also means that 2012 is already half over. Did you make a New Year’s resolution to get healthier and maybe lose weight? Did you stick with your resolution or was it out the door on Jan. 6? If you did not stick with it and need a little help getting back on track go see Dr. Thaik at Revitalize-U on Cinema Drive. Dr. Thaik can help you improve your health by improving your blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol and help you get those extra pounds off. Use the second half of 2012 to make a better healthier you!

Remember to take time for you, and relax.

Enjoy!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend …. Those of us who like to be entertained, shop or eat great food go to the Street Fair! There’s a little of everything for everyone, admission is free and it’s right here in our own backyard. They have great food provided by gourmet food trucks, entertainment, handmade items, art, crafts, and a farmer’s market on Sunday. It happens the fourth weekend of every month at COC -- if you missed it, visit www.santaclaritastreetfair.com for more details.

During the summer months, I think you would agree that fresh fruit, veggies and good barbecue eating is the best. If your fruit of choice is cherries, bring the family to Villa del Sol Sweet Cherry Farms. It’s fun for everyone and the cherries are ripe and ready for picking. Open weekdays and weekends, for more info and cherry alerts go to: www.upickcherries.com or call the cherry hotline at 661-270-1356.

Let’s have a great summer! Enjoy life, and dream big.

Everything seems a little more relaxed now that summer is officially here. If you’re looking for summer night fun head to Old Town Newhall from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday for the Farmers Market, where you can stroll around and purchase fresh fruits and veggies direct from local growers! If you don’t feel like going out, how about ordering a bouquet of flowers from Steve’s Valencia Florist? They’re family owned and operated and have been on Lyons Ave since 1974. That’s because they “deliver” the freshest available flowers and the best customer service I’ve experienced from a flower shop. Chances are, if you call 661-287-3660, you’ll speak directly with Steve or Jan!

Thanks again for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. As always, feel free to email or call me with topics you would like to hear about.

One of the greatest things about working in the advertising and marketing industry is that we get to work with so many different types of businesses and organizations. Every client needs something different so there is never a dull moment. Some clients need a retail discount campaign that requires an immediate call to action, while others need a permanent branding campaign to make sure that when someone needs their services their name is in front of their potential clients. This is what we call a “thin market” client, because they do not sell their clients every day. In fact, they may only do business with the same client once, regardless of the great service and or products that they provide.

Our goal is to help our clients with their marketing campaigns to increase market share and revenue by designing demographic targeted marketing campaigns. One of the biggest benefits of working with The Signal, is our audience. With the largest subscriber-based local media publication, and the most-viewed local website in the SCV, we have the best and largest audience for any type of business or organization in the SCV. This enables us to help the types of businesses that only sell to other businesses, in our SCV Business Journal, or the non-profit organization that needs to advertise a big event in The Signal newspaper so they get a big turn-out for their fundraiser. Let’s not forget the mom and pop shops or the small business retailers that need to have a call to action ad running daily to drive traffic to their doors.

We are here and available to help you with your business. Please feel free to call, email, text, Facebook or come into The Signal and visit us in person. We would like to meet you and would appreciate learning about your business and helping you increase your market share.
