Good morning Santa Clarita,

June is upon us and I am hearing that the Memorial Day weekend was great in sales for most of our local retailers. Some even broke sales records. Thanks to all the shoppers that supported our local businesses during the long weekend.

Be sure to look for the Signal’s upcoming Health and Wellness guide in Friday’s paper. You will get some great information on how to keep your home safe for your little ones and what you need for your home in case of an earthquake. You can never be too prepared.

For those just becoming familiar with The Signal, Santa Clarita’s local newspaper, we have an award-winning editorial staff along with many options to help you grow your business. We can get the word out about your business seven days a week with the paper, the No. 1 website in the Santa Clarita Valley, monthly and annual publications, video, direct mail and much, much more. We are your ONE STOP shop for all your advertising needs.

Until next time, I hope you all have a fantastic week.

Cleaning out the garage? Need more space around the house? Have items that you haven’t used in awhile? Why not sell them in our classifieds section? Right now at The Signal, you can list any item for sale with a value of up to $1,000 in our classifieds section for a week for FREE. Not only that, but we will include a photo of the item as well at no additional cost. Simply email a description of your item (up to 25 words) along with a photo to ads@the-signal.com and we will take care of the rest. Sell it yourself, sell it fast, and keep all the money.

Hello Santa Clarita.

June is here, and the heat is, too. So make sure to keep yourself, your pets and plants hydrated and stay out of the heat.

During my travels around town, I stopped by the Paseo Club and enjoyed a lengthy tour of the facility. If you plan to stay home for the summer months with the kids (or alone), a staycation at the Paseo Club would be perfect. Your family will share many benefits together at the same time. Whether it’s exercise, swimming, tennis or a movie by the pool, there’s something for everyone. They have a café, bar, spa and sauna, if you’re hungry or just want to relax.

I wanted to bring up a subject that we all face daily, human contact. A very important part of owning your business, of course, is having great customer service. We’ve all experienced excellent customer service, and yes, bad too. Unfortunately, we tend to remember the bad, and who do we share this information with? Friends and family. I’ve always been taught to smile, listen and treat your customers with respect. I believe in the BEST customer service for everyone. So business owners remember to keep this in mind… Every face you see could be a potential customer (even mine).

Have a great week, and keep your dream alive. Smile.

Did you know that The Signal is the number one most viewed local website in the Santa Clarita Valley? This is not just me tooting The Signal horn. According to Google analytics we are the number one most viewed local website in the SCV. No other media in the SCV is even close. Have you looked at the site lately? Have you seen all that we have to offer you as a Santa Clarita Valley resident? Even those of you who live in Stevenson Ranch or Castaic – yes we have stuff for you, too.

If you are a parent and your kids are into sports, chances are we are reporting on it. If you are a resident and you are looking for community events or something for you and your spouse or family to do on the weekends… there is no better place to get more information about the Santa Clarita Valley. Don’t just take my word for it; check out The Signal online and The Signal daily newspaper – every day. In addition, if you are an advertiser, there is no better audience than The Signal in the SCV. The biggest bonus of all, we reach our audience – every day – not just once a month.

We are making many improvements to The Signal newspaper and online and our many other publications in the SCV. Keep an eye out over the coming months and see for yourself. In fact if there is something new that you would like us to do or incorporate – please contact me – I would love to hear your ideas.

Happy Tuesday. It’s been steaming hot lately, so here are a few ideas to help beat the heat.

How about Fresh on Main Street in Old Town Newhall? Madison is sure to help you find something stylish that’ll keep you looking cool. You know, right now, you can go to www.the-signal.com and purchase TWO $25 certificates for only $25! Now if you really want to stay cool, give Bob Lucas at Santa Clarita Custom Air a call…. They’ve been helping us locals keep our cool for 22 years. They’re prompt, reasonable and will have your house cooled off in no time.

If you’re planning a wedding, bar mitzvah, quinceañera or just want a reason to get out of the house head over to Hart Park this Sunday, June 10 from 10-4 for the Weddings & Beyond Bridal Show. Admission is FREE and you could win a package for up to 75 people.

That’s it for now…. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to write about. I’ll be back next Tuesday.
