A 3-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital Thursday following a near drowning at a community pool in Valencia.

The boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles following the incident at a pool at El Molina Avenue and Alta Vista Avenue, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Mark Savage.

“He’s breathing now, and that’s a good thing,” Savage said.

At 2:40 p.m. Thursday, emergency personnel responded by ambulance and helicopter to the scene.

They gave the boy oxygen.

The helicopter landed at Heritage Park near the pool on Newhall Ranch Road at McBean Parkway.

“The boy was crying but looked OK,” said one man who witnessed paramedics putting the boy into the helicopter.

The boy’s father and brother were also seen getting into the helicopter.
