Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station will be conducting a checkpoint Friday night to catch drunken drivers and those driving without a valid license.
The checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location within the city of Santa Clarita between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
“DUI checkpoints, along with regularly scheduled high-visibility DUI enforcement, serves as a proven deterrent with the goal of removing impaired drivers and heightened awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol,” according to a prepared statement from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.
The checkpoint will be funded with a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
