Gas prices throughout the Santa Clarita Valley are holding steady, but they’ve begun rising throughout the rest of the state, including Los Angeles.

Gas prices ranged from a high of $3.85 a gallon to as low as $3.55 a gallon at a number of local stations Tuesday, according to information from the gasoline price-tracking website gasbuddy.com. Gas prices averaged $3.71 a gallon throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

The lowest price for gasoline dropped four cents from a week ago at one membership-only gas station in the Santa Clarita Valley. Prices throughout the rest of the valley remained about the same, although the highest gas price rose about two cents from one week ago.

In Los Angeles, the average retail price for gas has risen 3.1 cents per gallon during the past week, according to gasbuddy.com. Gas prices averaged $3.72 a gallon in Los Angeles, nearly seven cents cheaper than a year ago and 26 cents lower than a month ago.

In California, gas prices averaged $3.75 a gallon, an increase of two cents from a week ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Overall, gas prices are almost five cents cheaper a gallon in the state than they were one year ago.

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gas rose about a cent and a half during the past week, although prices are still about 25 cents cheaper than they were a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
With oil prices rising, some analysts are forecasting an increase in gas prices ahead.

“Those who stuck around the low gas price party expecting it to last have realized they’re out in the cold,” said gasbuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “Oil prices are well off their recent lows, and we’ll likely continue to see the national average rise in response.”
