I-5 southbound onramp closure scheduled
The southbound onramp to Interstate 5 at Magic Mountain Parkway will be closed through Sunday at 5 p.m. The closure is necessary so ExxonMobil crews can connect new lines to the existing lines.

CalTrans, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and the Magic Mountain Theme Park emergency response team are aware of the closure and will be available to ensure the closure goes smoothly. There will also be added traffic assistance at the intersection of The Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway during the Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park's closing hours Saturday night, between 8 p.m. and midnight.

School official protesting cuts
Rick Grove, assistant superintendent of personnel for the Saugus Union School District, will attend a rally in Sacramento on Monday to protest the proposed state budget cuts to education. More than 100 school representatives - most of them superintendents - are planning to gather on the steps of the state capitol to decry the $4.8 billion in proposed cutbacks, and to inform legislators about how the budget cuts would result in larger class sizes, teacher layoffs, the elimination of academic programs and the closure of schools.

City surveying about Channel 20
The city of Santa Clarita is asking for responses to about 10 questions regarding what residents want to see on Channel 20, the city's local public access television station. The survey is available on the city's Web site at www.santa-clarita.com throughout the month of March.

Currently, Channel 20 is operated by Time-Warner cable, but as of January 2009, the requirement that Time Warner operate the channel will be lifted and operation and programming of the channel will become the city's responsibility.

"We are interested in learning what types of programming the community is interested in seeing on their local television station," said Darren Hernandez, deputy city manager and administrative services manager. To request that a survey be mailed to you, call 661-286-4167.
