Six Flags rocks in the New Year

Offers safe and sober party for local families

This year marks the first time Six Flags Magic Mountain will host the Rock N' Ride New Year's Eve party for the local community.

The event, sponsored by Six Flags, Coca-Cola, The Signal and the city of Santa Clarita, is designed to be a safe and sober New Year's Eve alternative for local kids and families.

Park hours are 10:30 a.m. to midnight Dec. 31, but the music and dancing will continue until 12:30 a.m.

Guests can visit the Valencia theme park for the entire day and stay for the evening activities or come just for the party.

The daylong festivities include a nighttime deejay and dancing, Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution video game competitions and karaoke.

The celebration continues with a countdown display on the Sky Tower and a toast to ring in the new year.

During the day, families can ride rollercoasters X2, Tatsu, Scream, Goliath and Colossus.

Younger thrill seekers can take part in dozens of family adventures, including the two interactive children's areas.
