Brendan Taylor, of Newhall, has graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

He graduated on May 23, 2012 and he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.

Taylor has successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical, military and professional training which resulted in a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Systems Engineering-Information Systems.

In addition, Taylor has also acquired additional skills including combat survival training, parachuting, soaring, powered flight, as well as scuba certification. Following graduation he will proceed to Vance e, Oklahoma for pilot training.

Lieutenant Taylor is a 2008 graduate of William S. Hart High School in Newhall. While at Hart, Taylor was a honors graduate, and a member of the Hart Indians football team.

Initially, the United States Air Force Academy accepted 1,300 cadets for this class. Of those, Taylor was one of 1,073 who graduated.
