Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an assault call involving a firearm at 8:21 a.m. in Gorman, a sheriff’s official said.

“The original call came in as an assault,” said Sgt. Rich Nagler, with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. “Shots were fired but nobody was injured.”

Sheriff’s deputies detained one individual around 11 a.m., Nagler said. The incident occurred in the 47000 block of Old Ridge Route Rd. off Highway 138.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter from Orange County assisted sheriff’s deputies in locating the individual, Nagler said.

The identity of the detained individual and the nature of the assault were not immediately known, Nagler said.
