Letters: Northern Santa Clarita a more logical location for new library

Santa Clarita widens as its growth has been north. It is shaped like a funnel, with the smallest area and the smallest population being in the south.

So, if we needed another library, the logical place to build it would have been in the north — especially since we already had the library on Valencia Boulevard, just a couple of miles from our $24 million white elephant.

I suspect that half the people in the vicinity of the new library don’t even speak English and will make little use of the new library. But that is not enough. Now we have Lori Rivas complaining that the new branch does not have sufficent staff.

As an example of the unfair treatment minorities always get, she compares the library in South Los Angeles with the one in Bel Air. One is full of bullet holes, and the other is in beautiful shape.

Well, maybe the citizens of Bel Air pay more taxes than the citizens of South L.A. And maybe their residents don’t shoot the place up.
