BANNING, Calif. (AP) — A wildfire in Riverside County has now burned 45 acres of brushland but authorities say it's 80 percent contained and no homes are threatened.

State fire authorities say the blaze erupted shortly before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday off State Route 243 south of Banning.

About 175 firefighters and four air tankers are on the scene. They're hoping to knock down the flames before the day gets any hotter. The National Weather Service says highs in the county could reach 108 in some areas.

There's no word on what sparked the fire.
