Deputies released a composite sketch Tuesday of a man believed to be responsible for an attempted kidnapping in Valencia.

A 17-year-old girl was waiting to be picked up from Valencia High around 6:45 p.m. Monday, when the suspect parked his truck, approached the victim and grabbed her left wrist, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

The victim hit the left side of the suspect’s face and then was able to run away. The victim also was able to see the suspect return to his truck and drive away heading eastbound on Decoro Drive towards McBean Parkway, according to the statement.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is seeking public assistance in identifying and locating the man pictured in the composite sketch. The suspect is described as approximately 40 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 250 pounds, male, Hispanic, with brown slick-back hair, a dark complexion and acne scars.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as an early 1990s Toyota pick-up, red in color. The vehicle's windows are heavily tinted. The word “Toyota” is written in large white letters across the tailgate.

Anyone with information about this suspect or vehicle is asked to call Detective Painter of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Detective Bureau at (661) 799-5141.
