ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. (AP) — A Los Angeles-area law enforcement chase has ended with the pursued pickup truck veering off a road, flying down an embankment and crashing into a tree.
The California Highway Patrol says the chase began Tuesday with some type of child-endangerment case in the city of Bell.
At one point a patrol car bumped the pickup and forced it to crash into a big-rig's trailer, but after a short standoff the suspect was able to start up and resume fleeing.
TV news helicopter cameras followed the pickup as it suddenly veered off a road in the Rolling Hills Estates area, crashed through a fence and became airborne.
The vehicle appeared to end up on its side among trees next to a building. Firefighters are working to free the driver.
