A Russian teen killed in a boating crash last week has been identified as having been the passenger on the watercraft he was riding, a coroner’s official said.

Harut Emmanuel Shabazyan, 16, visiting California from Russia, was a passenger on a personal watercraft that was struck by a ski boat, Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said Sunday.

Department investigators who performed a post-mortem examination of his body concluded Shabazyan died of “multiple traumatic injuries” and officially labeled his death accidental, MacWillie said.

A man seriously injured in the same crash, who was airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, was also riding on the same watercraft when the collision occurred, Sgt. Roger Wallace of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau told The Signal last week. His name was not released.

The collision occurred at mid-afternoon July 1 on Pyramid Lake north of Castaic. The Waverunner and a 21-foot ski boat collided.

The case is still under investigation.
