SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (AP) — Two San Fernando council members who admitted having an affair have taken out restraining orders against each other after an alleged violent spat.

The Los Angeles Times reports Councilman Mario Hernandez and Councilwoman Maribel de la Torre sought the court orders following the June 28 incident.

A police report states an officer responding to a call at Hernandez's home last week found the residence had been ransacked and noticed red marks and scratches on the councilman's neck.

De la Torre and Hernandez are under court order to stay 100 yards away from each other.

In November, Hernandez, who was the mayor and married at the time, and de la Torre shocked the council when they announced that they were romantically linked. His wife was in the audience.

Both face recall elections in the fall.
