Temperatures will peak at 94 degrees in the Santa Clarita Valley this weekend and reach triple digits by early next week, ending a holiday week of mild weather, a National Weather Service spokesman said.

“Right now we’ve had a low-pressure system from the coastal regions,” weather service spokesman Stewart Seto said Monday. “A high-pressure system moving in will remove cloud cover in the Santa Clarita region.”

Saturday temperatures will reach 91 degrees, with a low of 59 degrees, and Sunday will see highs of 94 degrees, with a low of 61 degrees, the weather service forecast.

Then the heat is on, at least until Wednesday.

The National Weather Service issued a heat statement for next week, warning high temperatures and low humidity could increase fire danger.

Temperatures are expected to reach 99 degrees on Monday and 101 degrees on Tuesday, forecasters said.

Seto said SCV residents should drink more water on warmer days and stay inside during the hottest part of the afternoon.
