LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A victim in one road rage confrontation has pleaded not guilty to charges that he was the attacker in a similar case.

Forty-nine-year-old Jerry Patterson pleaded not guilty in Long Beach Friday to driving under the influence, hit-and-run and battery.

Patterson is accused of driving recklessly and fleeing a crash in Long Beach on May 25 and assaulting a man who followed him and reported him to police. He failed to show for a court hearing so a warrant was issued.

He was arrested on that warrant when the witness to the crash saw him giving television interviews about a videotaped June 12 freeway beating in which he appeared to be kicked in the head.

Two men were arrested in that case after video of the beating was posted online.
