Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies are looking for a 23-year-old man described as “armed and dangerous” whom they say shot another man in Canyon Country on Wednesday.

Brandon Alexii Carrera, who once lived in Canyon Country and still frequents the area, is being sought by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

In a news release issued Thursday, deputies said: “Carrera has been identified as the individual who shot an acquaintance on July Fourth in the area of Jakes Way and Sierra Highway.”

Anyone spotting Carrera is urged “not to approach or attempt to apprehend” him.

Carrera, who turns 24 next week, is described as 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair.

He is listed as having once lived in the area of Esterbrook Avenue and Pleasantville Street, 2 1/2 miles from where the shooting occurred.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the thigh during a dispute with Carrera outside the Cordova Estates mobile home park about 5 p.m. Wednesday, deputies said.

The victim was treated for a gunshot wound at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and was expected to recover from his injury, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

Anyone spotting Carrera is urged to call Detective Rick Welch at 661-255-1121.
