At least one person was taken to the hospital Monday following a two-car head-on crash on Sierra Highway just south of Golden Valley Road.
A car and an SUV collided in the northbound lanes of Sierra Highway about 10:30 a.m.; both vehicles had extensive front-end damage.
One woman, who appeared to be in her 20s, was removed from a black Toyota Camry, placed on a spinal board and transferred to the hospital, officials at the scene said.
There was no word on the driver of the SUV, a green Honda Pilot.
The Pilot’s driver seat airbag had been deployed and the front windshield smashed on the driver’s side.
Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were trying to figure out how two cars in the northbound lanes ended up colliding head on.
As of Monday evening, neither the Sheriff’s Department nor the Fire Department had information on the condition of the second motorist.
Spokesmen for each department, however, said if the injuries suffered by the second driver were anything but minor, they would have been told so by paramedics and sheriff’s deputies.
