Trinity senior Kaeli Massetto was named the school's Female Athlete of the Year for her contributions on the volleyball, soccer and softball teams this year.

As the athletic prowess of Trinity’s Kaeli Massetto continued to rise over her four-year high school career, the reputation of her school rose, as well.

A star volleyball, soccer and softball player, Massetto has laid a groundwork for female athletes at the Valencia campus, that will be followed for years to come.

“She has opened the doors for us. She is our pioneer,” said Trinity softball head coach Ivette Demarois. “She definitely opened the door because of, not only her ability to play, to lead and to minister to younger students, but they all look up to her and see what’s possible. And they all strive to be a Kaeli Massetto, so she has definitely been an impact to Trinity not only in academics, but especially for athletics.”

That impact earned her a scholarship to Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Ore., where she will play softball in the spring.

Softball was her primary sport, but her skill was seen in all three sports she played.

In soccer, she saved 48 shots in 13 games at the goal keeper position.

In volleyball, Massetto had 17 digs, 19 aces and five kills.

But softball is where she truly excelled — leading the team with a .574 batting average and 11 home runs.

“Not only is she an extraordinary athlete, but she is also an outstanding leader,” Demarois said. “A very humble person who leads her squad with courage and purpose, no matter whether we’re down or up. Good attitude, very encouraging, she always gives 100 percent.”

The high school recognized those qualities in Massetto, and as a result, she’s been named Trinity’s Female Athlete of the Year.
