Christina Keoshian lived up to her family name, exceling at both volleyball and soccer, as SCCS chose her as the school's Female Athlete of the Year.

Christina Keoshian had a name that was well known before she arrived at Santa Clarita Christian.

Her older brother Collin was a football star who graduated from the school as one of the all-time leading rushers in California 8-man football. Her sister Natalie was a successful soccer and volleyball player at the school.

Despite all this, Christina still  managed to carve out her own space on the volleyball and soccer teams this season — but given her athletic ability, that should come as no surprise.

“For soccer, she stepped in to play keeper for us when we didn’t really have anyone, and that really shows what kind of person she is,” said SCCS girls soccer coach Matt Gale. “She had never played that position before.”

And to the team’s delight, she played the position like a veteran.

It was a strong enough performance to earn her All-Heritage League first-team honors this season.

That was one of two Heritage first teams she made this season, as Christina put together an equally strong performance in the fall for the girls volleyball team.

There, Christina played middle blocker and was one of the team’s strongest offensive weapons.

Her dual-sport repertoire begs the question of what she is capable of next year as a senior.

And there’s one more attribute she learned from her siblings, as well, regardless of the sport.

“The kid’s character, her Christian character is huge,” Gale said. “The fact that she is respected by her teammates. She’s a coachable, likable kid, always smiling, always has a kind word to say.”
