BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — Police say the wife of Lancaster's mayor had a loaded handgun in a carry-on bag at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.
Carrol Parris was stopped by TSA agents when the firearm showed up on an X-ray machine on Thursday.
Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn says police were notified and Parris was cited at the airport and released.
She had a permit allowing her to carry a concealed weapon but the sergeant says the permit had expired.
Her husband, Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris, tells the Los Angeles Times that his wife was in a rush to see family in Sacramento and she forgot the loaded gun was in the bag.
