Homicide detectives were called to a parking structure on Silver Aspen Way late Sunday afternoon after a man and a dog were both found dead in a parked car there, sheriff's deputies said.
Shortly after 4 p.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station received a report of a man found dead in a car parked in the 25000 block of Silver Aspen Way, on the northwest corner of Valencia Boulevard and The Old Road, said Lt. Tom Bryski of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
"We're still there investigating," Bryski said at about 5:40 p.m. "We're waiting for the coroner and homicide detectives."
Detectives assigned to the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Station are called in for suspicious deaths in addition to calls for homicides.
One witness told The Signal he saw at least one local deputy knock on the door of a third-floor apartment at the Silver Aspen Way complex and asked a woman if she had seen her husband.
The witness, who asked not to be identified, said the woman told the deputy she had not seen her husband and that he had taken their dog.
