A decorated sailboat cruises in a recent Ventura Harbor Holiday Boat Parade. This year's event takes place Dec. 19 and 20. In addition to the watercraft cavalcade, a special Christmas carnival and a fireworks display will take place.

The Ventura Harbor lights up both sea and the sky with a spectacular 32nd annual Boat Parade of Lights, as well as a fireworks display Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m.

The two-day celebration kicks off with the festive Parade of Lights Carnival featuring rides and games on the Ventura Harbor Village main lawn, live entertainment including fire dancers, barbershop groups, and bands beginning at 5 p.m.on both days.

Santa and Mrs. Claus journey to the Harbor between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. for last-minute gift requests at the Carousel Stage and FantaSEA characters such as mermaids and Neptune wander the Promenade.

Friday night on the main lawn stage features fire dancing by Pulse Drumming followed by the four- part harmonies of the Channel Island Clippers. Rocking crowds into the night will also be the popular Mighty Cash Cats, a Johnny Cash tribute band.

Saturday evening's entertainment includes more fire dancing, a barbarshop quartet, and amazing surf rock from The Phantom Riders.

Go early to shop in the 17 Harbor Village stores offering wonderful last minute gifts for everyone on your list. Harbor restaurants are overflowing with good cheer and great vantage view points to view the parade.

Newly designed holiday lights and decorations illuminate the Ventura Harbor Village this season. You can get up close and personal with public cruises offered by Ventura Harbor Boat Rentals to view the lights from the water. Call (805) 642-7753 for details.

The Parade of Lights admission and parking is free. Capture the spirit of the parade by taking the $1 round-trip water taxi on Saturday night only, departing from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. from the Public Boat Ramp launch area on Anchors Way Dive and returns from the Village between 9 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Or ride the free shuttle bus on Saturday night only from the parking lot on Harbor Boulevard and Schooner Drive continuous from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Arrive early for best parking and shopping through the Village.
