Starting Sunday next week, Caltrans will close some lanes and off-ramps between Santiago Road and Via Princessa on both sides of Highway 14 to allow workers to replace damaged pavement.

Up to two lanes on both sides of the highway may be closed between 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., said Kelly Markham, spokeswoman for the California Department of Transportation. At least one lane will be open between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Off-ramps between Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country and Sierra Highway in Acton may be closed, but those ramp closures will be staggered so drivers won't have to drive far beyond their usual ramp, Markham said.

The $40 million repair project will replace asphalt slabs in both directions of Highway 14 between Mountain Springs Road in Palmdale and Via Princessa in Canyon Country, a distance of just more than 20 miles, Markham said.
