Morton Manufacturing, the longtime Santa Clarita Valley firm that makes fasteners for the aerospace industry, will be relocating to Lancaster and taking some 200 jobs with it, the Antelope Valley city announced in a news release today.

"We are excited to become a member of the city of Lancaster business community," Morton's chairwoman and CEO, Yolanda Morton, said in the release. "We greatly appreciate the business-friendly environment and consideration shown to us by all staff members at (Lancaster) City Hall."

Established in 1967, Morton specializes in the production of nickel-alloy bolts for gas-turbine aircraft engines.

Its move to Lancaster will take 200 jobs out of the Santa Clarita Valley, and another 100 are expected to be added after the move. Morton will relocate to a 10.06-acre parcel in the Lancaster Business Park near East Avenue K-15 and Business Center Parkway.

The move is subject to Lancaster City Council approval, which is expected at its June 26 meeting.
