Hart district board members and the Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation this week honored The Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation for providing students from the class of 2012 with a total of $120,000 in scholarships for college and post-high school plans.

At each comprehensive high school, the foundation awarded one $5,000 scholarship, one at $4,000, two at $3,000, one at $2,500 and one at $2,000, totaling $117,000.

Among the Hart district's three alternative high schools, the foundation awarded one scholarship at $1,500, one at $1,000 and one at $500, totaling $3,000.

The Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation is headquartered in San Francisco and is not affiliated with the local hospital.
