A registered sex offender living in Canyon Country has been arrested for allegedly violating his parole after corrections officers found pornography on his home computer, an official said Monday.

William Greggory Babb, 51, who lives in a mobile home park on Soledad Canyon Road, was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies, according to booking information compiled by the Inmate Information Center at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives were alerted to the alleged parole violation by officers of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, a spokesman told The Signal.

"We did a routine check on the 13th of June," said Corrections Department spokesman Bill Sessa. "He was not at his home, but we have the right to search it, and we found on his computer inappropriate content."

"It is pornography, but I just don't know the nature of it," he said.

Corrections officers notified sheriff's deputies who then arrested Babb.

The 6-foot-1, 300-pound office worker is now being held without bail at Men's Central Jail on Bauchet Street in Los Angeles.

Babb made headlines last fall when the mother of a boy he had molested expressed outrage at seeing him out of prison and back on the street, having received no official notification of his release.

Babb was imprisoned in June 2010 and released Sept. 3 from the California Institution for Men in Chino.

His appearance back in the Santa Clarita Valley happened six months after he pleaded guilty in San Fernando Superior Court to one felony charge of contacting a minor with the intention of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior.

After news of Babb's early release was publicized, state officials responded with a promise to restrict Babb's movements.

He was barred from the area around the home of his victim, as well as Golden Valley High School, the Santa Clarita Soccer Training Center and four houses of worship.

Babb was arrested Friday under section 3056 of the state penal code, which means he was turned over to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

He is expected to appear at a parole board hearing where a decision will be made regarding his parole.

"That decision could include referral to the Board of Prison Terms for a revocation hearing, which means he could end up back in custody," Sessa said.
