City Council members shuffled their committee appointments for the second time this year, during Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
But the changes decided Tuesday were much less contentious than at a January meeting when council members argued amongst each other about changes.
Mayor Frank Ferry proposed the appointment changes at Tuesday’s meeting. Several of the committees had to be changed from January’s vote after Councilman TimBen Boydston beat out then-Mayor Laurie Ender in April’s election.
Boydston, who previously said one of his goals as a council member was to be on more committees this time around, made it onto six committees as a first member, as well as other alternate positions.
The City Council participates in a number of committees outside the city, including League of California Cities and Orange Line Development Authority, and also has subcommittees within the city where council members discuss topics in more detail.
At January’s meeting, then-Mayor Laurie Ender asked that some of the 27 committees be condensed, which lead to some heated discussions amongst council members.
Tuesday’s meeting was much less heated, with Mayor Frank Ferry doling out the committee appointments without much surprise or discussion amongst council members.
