A suspicious package left on the steps of City Hall created some tense moments for local sheriff's deputies Monday morning.

"As it turns out, it was a box of batteries," said Sgt. Rich Nagler of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
At about 7 a.m. Monday, someone contacted the sheriff's station about the package left at Santa Clarita City Hall.

"The city apparently held some sort of battery drop-off and this was dropped off," he said. "The box was marked ‘box of batteries' and, when deputies look inside it they saw the batteries."
