A silver Toyota Prius traveling east on Wiley Canyon Road near Orchard Village Road drove over the curb, struck a tree and knocked a fire hydrant off its moorings around 3 p.m., causing water to spray at least 40 feet into the air, a witness said.

Sheriff’s deputies closed the eastbound lanes on Wiley until the water could be shut off, but the road had reopened by 4 p.m., a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department official said.

No one was arrested in the single car crash, the official said.
