As Friday's brush fire in Castaic demonstrated, brush fire season is upon us. It's time to clear the brush around our properties.

Miss SCV moves to PAC
The Miss SCV Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the campus of College of the Canyons The outgoing Miss SCV royalty includes: Miss SCV Emily Chetner, Mrs. SCV Debbie Haas, Ms. SCV Theresa Bruno, Miss Teen SCV Aurora Albi-Mercier, Junior Miss SCV Shelby Myers, Little Miss SCV Lindsey Lewis and Miss Teen Superior Queen Kelsie Leach. Kudos for a job well done representing the SCV in the past year!

Boys & Girls Club Auction
Kudos to everyone who worked so hard on the 41st annual Boys & Girls Club Benefit Auction. Auction committee chairs included: Craig's Crew, Wayne Mahaffey, Jim Walsh, Donna Lee Giddings, Cheryl Gray, Barbara C. Morris, Pranav Patel, Dennis Fore, Brenda Kass, Ruben Haynes, Heidi Imahoff, Cynthia Arance, The Bill White Team, Jami Kennedy, Bryan Lake, Bruce McFarland, Lisa Bomben, Karen and John Mahaffey, Kyle Mahaffey, Phillip Thompson, Judy Penman, Adele Macpherson and Joe Trejo. In addition, the hard-working Ronda Chobanian should take a bow, also!

Red, White and Blue
A Red, White and Blue Luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 21 hosted by the Valencia Women's Connection.
Tickets are $16 inclusive. The lunch will be held at the City of Santa Clarita Activities Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita. The event will feature Lynn Wright presenting a mini-patriotic music concert. Speaker will be Angela Alexander, a former member of the U.S. Air Force, author and inspirational speaker. Hot tip of the week
