MLB: Five locals taken so far in MLB Draft

COC's Jones goes in fifth round, Valencia's Williams goes in 11th

Thus far, Major League Baseball teams have selected five locals on the second day of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.

College of the Canyons pitcher Cory Jones went the highest - a fifth-round selection, 180th overall, by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Timmy Lopes, a former Valencia High player who graduated from Edison High in Orange County in 2012 was selected in the sixth round, 191st overall, by the Seattle Mariners.

Hart High graduate and UCLA infielder/outfielder Trevor Brown was taken in the 10th round (328th overall) by the San Francisco Giants.

The Master's College pitcher and West Ranch High graduate Charlie Gillies was taken in the 10th round (334th overall) by the Detroit Tigers.

Valencia infielder Trey Williams was selected in the 11th round (360th overall) by the Cardinals.
