Senior lunch menu
Available Monday through Friday at the SCV Senior Center in Newhall. Meals are also available when you call one day ahead at Bouquet Canyon Seniors, Monday through Friday, 661-513-9479, and available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Masonic Lodge in Friendly Valley 661-299-4595.

Activities
The SCV Senior Center is located at 22900 Market St., Newhall. For a detailed monthly calendar, call the center at 661-259-9444. All the following activities will occur at the SCV Senior Center, 1 p.m., in rooms A1-A2 unless otherwise indicated.
Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m., blood-pressure checks held, Activity Room 6. Every other Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon, hearing screenings held, Supportive Services modular.
June 6: "Senior Home Ownership, Mortgages and Loan Information," presented by Candy Stone Watson, Reverse Mortgage Consultant for 1st Reverse Mortgage USA, Betty Wright, Real Estate Loan Officer for Lockheed Federal Credit Union, and Rick Mahn of Centennial Realty, a specialist in senior home ownership in the SCV.
June 13: "Sun Safety," presented by Cathy Spaid, Emergency Room Nurse, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
June 20: "Emergency Preparedness and Fall Prevention," presented by Sandra Gomez, Emergency Preparedness Public Health Nurse, and JoAnna Levinson, Community Liaison Public Health Nurse, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
June 27: "Healthy Heart Workshop," presented by Facey Medical Group/Providence Health and Services.

AARP Driver Safety Qualifies participants 55 and over for three-year automobile insurance credit, 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 8, and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 9. $12 AARP members, $14 nonmembers. Register at the center or call 661-259-9444.
AARP Driver Safety refresher course
A four-hour AARP Driver Safety refresher course will be offered on Saturday, June 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants must have taken the eight-hour class in last four years. Register at the center or call 661-259-9444.

Summerhill Soiree
Support the Alzheimer's Association at the second annual Summerhill Soiree with wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, silent auction, live jazz music, complimentary valet and more, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at Summerhill Villa, 24431 Lyons Ave., Newhall. Spine education
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital's free Spine Education Program offers valuable information on how you can take better care of your spine, including lifestyle changes that may help with pain management and prevent future injuries. Classes meet 5 to 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Henry Mayo's Ambulatory Care Center, 25751 McBean Parkway, #310, Valencia. Seating is limited. Info: 661-253-8959.

Volunteers needed
The SCV Senior Center calls for volunteers for the following tasks: Pack nutritious meals for homebound seniors, 6-10 a.m.; deliver meals to homebound seniors, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; serve meals and clean, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. One day a week is all it takes to make a difference. Community dance

Functional fitness
At 8:30 a.m. M-W-F, we're movin' and groovin', steppin' and sweatin' to the beat with ACE Certified Exercise Specialist Linda Bennett. We're the new and improved "middle age" 50-plus active adults.
The program encompasses functional fitness - moves are designed to simulate ADLs (activities of daily living), and sports moves like golf, tennis, and skiing. We do cardiovascular training, muscle and bone building, core stabilization and spatial awareness for balance - all within one hour.
If you're not quite ready for the fast and furious fitness, at 9:45 a.m. there is a great 30-minute chair class that will suit you. Call the Senior Center at 661-259-9444, or Linda Bennett at 661-993-3969.

Food for the Soul
Put smiles on the faces and warm the hearts of homebound seniors when you become a home-delivered meal driver. Become a part of our volunteer team to ensure that no senior goes without a meal. Help is desperately needed for as little as two and one-half hours one day a week or even one day a month (Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.). Vehicles provided. Bridge: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 9 a.m.
Canasta: Monday, 1-4 p.m.
Duplicate Bridge: Tuesday, 6:45-10 p.m.

Swing Jazz Club: fourth Sunday of every month, 1:30-5 p.m.

Senior cinema
Second Wednesday of the month, 2 p.m. in the dining room, $1 donation, 25-cent popcorn, drawing for prizes.
