Paramedics freed two people - one reported in critical condition - from a car that plunged at least 50 feet down a ravine north of the Bouquet Reservoir Sunday morning.

At about 11 a.m. Sunday, paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received word that a car travelling on Spunky Canyon Road, near the reservoir and north of Bouquet Canyon road went down an embankment.

Paramedics arriving by helicopter spotted the vehicle and immediately began efforts to free the occupants from the vehicle, Inspector Bernard Peters said.

“They’re still working on extraction,” he said at 11:15 a.m., adding paramedics had not disclosed the gender or age of the crash victims.

At about 11:35 a.m., paramedics reported that both occupants had been removed from the vehicle.

“One of them was critical and I don’t know yet about the other,” Peters said about the extent of injuries.

Both victims were taken to hospital, he said.
